📖I really don't know where to start from. Firstly, I will say that "Revival" is EXCELLENT and I will try hard not to reveal things that should not be revealed.
So, we have been watching the life of Jamie Morton since he was 6 years old. He was playing with some soldiers in the yard of his house when he met Charlie Jacobs, the pastor of his parish at that time. Charlie has a unique love for electricity and every week he presents in his Parish Catechism various strange experiments, which he connects with religion and the scriptures.
But after the horrible death of his wife and son, Charlie loses his faith and leaves the city. We don't learn anything about him until Jamie meets him at an event, where Charlie does a show with "electrified portraits". It is obvious that he is not the same person and that there is something strange about him, as his involvement with electricity has reached the point of curing serious diseases.
The book refers to many serious issues in a mysterious and dark atmosphere. Steven King talks about addictions, illness, music, the role of the family, elderly and at the same time the concept of religion and faith. Also, metaphysical concerns about what is on the other side and where we think all our loved ones go after death are important parts of the book.
Revival shocked me. It is both descriptive and documentary. The characters are so complete. Really, they grow, change and mature within these pages. Maybe at some point I felt Steven King was gabbling, but they were so few that it isn't worth expanding.
As soon as I read the end, it took me a few minutes to get back to reality and get my breathing back to normal.
❓What is your opinion about the King?
